Composed by Tony Benade. Arranged by Tony Benade. Instructional,Jazz. Score and parts. 136 pages. Tony Benade #4627049. Published by Tony Benade (A0.809119).
A study in the art of improvisation that shows the student a direct approach to playing jazz. There are 15 etudes that contain the chord progressions and changes to many of the jazz standards performed by the majority of jazz musicians today. Each etude has a preparatory section that is set up corresponding to the main theme. There are coded two and four bar jazz phrases that corresponds to the etude which is also coded. Once the student has learned and memorized each coded phrase, they can then place them at the corresponding coded in the etude.
The most important part of the procedure is to learn each phrase in the preparatory section and then be able to link them together. If this method is followed, the student will find themselves actually performing in the jazz idiom. This is by far, the most comprehensive method written by this author.
This product was created by a member of ArrangeMe, Hal Leonard's global
self-publishing community of independent composers, arrangers, and songwriters.
ArrangeMe allows for the publication of unique arrangements of both popular
titles and original compositions from a wide variety of voices and backgrounds.
