Challenging
I'm a jazz novice so I can't speak to the song selection. But I do like the text introducing each song -- a brief bio of the composer, some comments on the song itself, and then notable excepts from the score and why they are important. It's very interesting stuff. That said, the scores are very difficult. I'm an intermediate-level player and I'm not afraid of long hours of practice, which will definitely be required. Of the 12 songs, I feel comfortable taking only one, maybe two. I'm not yet skilled to try the rest. I'm glad that I bought the book, but it will be a few more years before I can work through all of the pieces.

At last a book of jazz flute transcriptions
This book has a broad scope, presenting a wide range of solos. It is clearly printed and the introductory text is very informative. There is one glaring error, however: the James Moody solo has the metronome marking of quarter-note= 176 instead of 76.
