"So Many Children" was inspired by Irena Sendler and the many people of the children's section of zegota (the Polish Council to Aid Jews) who smuggled some 2,500 Jewsih Children out of the Warsaw Ghetto and providing them Polish Identies and housing with Polish families, and in orphanges and convents, saving these children from the Holocaust.
In the work, you will hear the sounds of unease in the air (opening), a children's theme (first presented by the woodwinds), sounds of the Gestapo and the war (signalled by a police whistle and percussion), and a triumphant ending.
