Michelle Mooney #1140475. Published by Michelle Mooney (A0.1568387).This arrangement of "Smoke Gets In Your Eyes" from the 1933 Broadway musical "Roberta" is based on an arrangement by the English guitarist John Duarte. The lyrics are repeated twice, with the repeat beginning in the bass line combined with harmonics.
Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers performed the song in the original musical, but in the film adaptation released in 1935 they only danced to the song. The most famous sung version of the tune was recorded in 1958 by `The Platters’, which became a number one hit on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100.
