Conceived in just one day, this suite for guitar and piano dives into the universe of the traditional Romanian music from Transylvania.
The six dances I selected for this work come from the violin repertoire and they all ritualic. Following the way Bartok dealt with the folk music I came back to my own way of using traditional music and I made several developments to the main themes. The result was a dynamic suite, in the modal language, which is ready to inspire all musicians willing to discover a fresh repertoire.
Conçu au cours d’un seul jour, cette suite pour guitare et piano plonge dans l’univers de la musique traditionnelle roumaine de la région de Transylvanie. Les six danses choisis pour cette œuvre font partie du répertoire de violon et représentent de moments musicaux rituels. En suivant le modèle de Bartok, je me suis retourné sur ma manière de travail qui consiste en développements des thèmes dans la plupart de danses. Le résultat c’est une suite dynamique modale, qui donne l’envie d’être découvert.
