This is a six piece collection of new works for Advent, written for organ - manuals only. Each piece is short, less than two minutes per piece, and can be used at any time during the service when a smaller work is needed.
I do like to write a lot of manuals-only pieces for organ for these reasons: - For the experienced organist, they can be easily read at sight if necessary - For the pianist who is trying to learn the organ, manuals-only requires a lot less practice - For the new organist, here again manuals-only helps to reduce practice time while allowing more time to concentrate on registration - Some pieces just do very well on manuals-only; it's a time-honored tradition
There are six pieces in this collection: A Prelude and Postlude, and one specific piece for each of the four Sundays in Advent.
