Sinfonia No. 3 is a unique and sparkling work for young bands (Grade 1) which gives a nod to more advanced suites for band. The 3 movement suite opens with "Air" and is a homage to traditional AABA song form. The 2nd movement "Ballade" features a haunting melody first heard in the clarinets and alto saxophone and, while not technically difficult, the movement offers the potential for much musical expression. The 3rd movement "March" is a processional-like movement which brings the entire suite to a sprited conclusion. Sinfonia No. 3 presents a diverse collection of sound colors and genres and each movement can be performed seperately. The clarinet parts do not cross the break and the high note for trumpet is D. Make Sinfonia No. 3 an "must have" selection for every middle school band.
