Silouan's Song was written in 1991 as a composition for string orchestra. The work is based on a text by St. Silouan (1866- 1938), whose theme is the yearning for God.

Core Part Repetoire
Silouans Song is a core piece of the Part repertoire. In my view, it is reminiscent of his choral pieces to the benefit of the piece. It is also less dissonant than a good number of his other instrumental pieces. It is also more atmospheric and for some may be too slow moving. Having said all that, this is a piece worthy of inclusion in more orchestras' season.
