Rhythms at the beginning of the collection are simple, and at the end of the collection, rhythms in compound meters are introduced. These exercises were written with the idea in mind that the students always need more practice than is available in the standard sight-singing publications.
This set is an overview of diatonic stepwise motion using a variety of rhythms. Companion volume 1A explores stepwise motion using only quarter, half, dotted half, and whole notes. 1B introduces eighth notes and sixteenth notes, and 1C introduces compound meters. 1D explores melodic minor, with all rhythms and meters introduced in 1A-1C. .
