Turlough O'Carolan (1670–1738) was an Irish musician, and this is said to be one of his first melodies. A beautiful old Irish air, usually played simply and leisurely, and occasionally played as a waltz. Also perfect as a small orchestral piece for children or youths. Sí Bheag, Sí Mhór are the names of two small mounds, - perhaps graves near Carolan's birth county of Meath. The ensemble is 1st and 2nd violins, viola and cello / double bass. 3rd violin part (as viola) is included. Malte Winje is a Norwegian composer and arranger who writes music for all genres, especially for children's and youth orchestras and choirs.
