Heavy Metal Guitar Meets 10 J. S. Bach Masterpieces. Composed by German Schauss. Guitar Method or Supplement; Method/Instruction; Technique Musicianship. Shredding Styles. Metal; Rock. Book and Digital Download. 64 pages. Alfred Music #00-34922. Published by Alfred Music (AP.34922).ISBN 9780739069516. UPC: 038081389325. English.
J. S. Bach is one of the greatest composers and most virtuosic musicians of all time. His amazing compositions are technically demanding, which make them the perfect match for heavy metal shred guitar. Shredding Bach introduces you to the unique style of this musical master and stretches your playing to the limits. It shows you all the essential techniques to play Bach's music on your electric guitar, including sweep picking, tapping, legato, and rapid alternate picking. Every example has been arranged to be as true and accurate to the original compositions as possible, with only minor adjustments made to accommodate the guitar and shred style. The accompanying online audio features all of the examples recorded at multiple speeds to help you practice and to get you on your way to mastering Bach's challenging compositions. Also included is online video with lessons and performances of the music.
German Schauss has produced a highly professional package that is clearly aimed at the intelligent apprentice axe man (or woman), rather than the wannabe headbanger.

I really like how this book has you learn some awsome songs from an amazing composer of the Baroque period. One thing I liked alot about this book was that it goes through specific techniques of learning how to be a shredder. Certain techniques like alternate picking, arpeggiations, scale sequences, etc. so that you are able to work through the songs more smoothly and proficiently. The techniques that you learn in this book are able to be used anywhere! As long as you know who to manipulate the scales or specific exercises. Shredding wasn't my thing, mainly because I didn't know exactly how to go about doing it. This book has helped with the specifics of playing the guitar. I would recommend this book to anyone. It would help to know a bit of music theory so you can apply the techniques it to your actual playing. I am excited for Germans new book Total Shred Guitarist!

Its nice to own, a piece of work, where Shred and Bach exist, where its not just about Harmonic Minor, but also Harmonic Structure. German Schauss, has bravely blazed into educational realms, by using JS Bach, staples, and using them not just to develop technique but theory and touch. If your like me, and blaze through books the first day, for once, some of these transcriptions have some extremely challenging moments; most of which the author points out when you read the well thought out analysis. An extremely valuable educational resource. Highlight: Prelude in C major (BWV 846) unlike you've ever seen it
