I've been writing arrangements for over 10 years for my own string quartet. My priorities are well notated rhythm of vocal parts and accurate transcriptions of instrumental solos. I am also deliberately writing arrangements that can put put together with relatively little rehearsal and largely lean on the 1st Violin part for leading and playing the more challenging material.
In this arrangement Violin 1 has the tune for most of the arrangement with little interjections from Violin 2 and Viola. The Cello has most of the rhythmic drive and a small part of tune towards the end.
