Syncopated and groovy
First of all I love Mark Hayes! And I do like this song, but fair warning - with an older church choir who is not used to singing groovy and relaxed rhythms - the syncopation in the verses will be tricky. I wish Hayes had aligned the syllables that we naturally stress with the longer notes (ex. in sample clip around :50 - cra-DLE being short-long is throwing my choir for a loop).We are doing an all-jazz/gospels theme for our cantata, so this fits in nicely.
