This beloved American folk song is here set in a new arrangement for SATB voices and piano. The first verse is for unison male voices, the second verse becomes somewhat more independent for all four parts, the third verse is in a loose canon form, and the final verse is again more independent with progressively closer harmony as the piece evolves. Thus it would provide a good challenge for the young choir but should be accessible for ensembles with at least modest abilities. It would make a wonderful addition to any school or community program.
