By Various. By Donaldson-Whiting. Arranged by P. R. Frederick. This edition: pdf. Folk, Standards, Traditional. 4 pages. P. R. Frederick #1446767. Published by P. R. Frederick (A0.1888082).

“Shenandoah” is a traditional American folk song, not a single pop-era composition, and it dates back to the early 19th century. It has been sung in multiple versions, often as a river song or sea shanty, and its most famous themes are longing, travel, and home.

Its melody is slow, spacious, and mournful, which makes it memorable and easy to adapt for solo, choir, and sea-shanty style performances. That flexibility is a big reason it has survived for generations.

Here is a violin duet arrangement of this beautiful classic. A score and individual parts are included.
