Sheebeg and Sheemore is an old Irish Air credited to O'Carolan, a blind Celtic harper, composer and singer in the early 18th Century who is considered by Irish folk music lovers as Ireland's national composer. Sheebeg and Sheemore are two hills topped by ancient ruins rumored to be fairy castles. This arrangement is for Intermediate String Trio (two violins and a cello). It an excellent choice for Irish holidays, such as St. Patrick's Day, and any gathering where Irish music lovers gather. The tempo for an air is slow and stately, but this piece is often played as a lively waltz at contra dances as well. Separate sheets are provided for the instruments along with the score.
