Hank Cochran called Patsy Cline in late 1961 and told her he’d just written her next number one hit. She told him to bring a bottle of liquor and come play it for her. He was right — “She’s Got You” topped the country chart and crossed into the pop Top 20. It was the last number one of Cline’s career; she died in a plane crash sixteen months later at thirty years old. In this Heartland Men’s Chorus production, the song becomes the vehicle for one of the revue’s showstopping comedy numbers: a countrified drag queen in a floor-length gown mournfully catalogues everything she’s inherited from her ex — and begins producing it all from the bodice of her dress. The items escalate. The song continues. The floor fills up. The audience loses its mind.
