Shaking the blues away is an absolute 1920s/ Golden age classic and it had been played and performed in various styles, including the Hollywood musical/movie "Love me or Leave me" by Doris Day in the 1950s.
This solo piano (syncopated/ rhythmic/ novelty piano solo/ stride piano) verison was arranged by myself very recently. The intro was inspired by the Ruth Etting version and everything else is my own work and inspiration.
About Monique Zhang -
Classically trained, trad jazz & stride pianist, time traveler and vintage jazz composer.
Monique discovered early jazz in her childhood from vintage animations and started learning and playing by ears during her teenage years. The 1920s stride piano style from the Jazz Era eventually became her passion and specialty as a jazz pianist. Vintage jazz is almost everyday life for Monique which also brought her inspiration to write her own vintage jazz/ stride piano compositions. Old schooled blues and early funk style are other influences on Monique and makes her improvisations very unique.
Basically, Monique was born as a new generation but her music lives in the Golden Age. She will make everybody swing with her music & entertainment.
