Composed by Johannes Brahms. Arranged by Christopher Kies. This edition: pdf. 19th Century, Chamber, Classical. Score and part. 84 pages. Christopher Kies #1144235. Published by Christopher Kies (A0.1572319).
These seven piano pieces are excerpted from Brahms' Opus 10, 76, 116, 117 and 119. Three of the pieces are rendered in both the original key and in a transposed and more convenient key for the bassoon, thus for those pieces there is a choice of key to use. These seven pieces were chosen from among the 34 or so shorter piano works of Brahms for their bassoon friendly character. The sample audio, which plays Opus 76 No 2, transposed to A Minor, was generated using Aria Player within the Finale software program. The difficulty levels of the seven pieces vary, but, in general, these pieces may be played by advanced-intermediate students as well as by professionals. These pieces make attractive recital pieces, and they are unusual in that Brahms did not compose for solo bassoon. Inquiries about these arrangements or other arrangements or compositions by Christopher Kies may be directed to christopherkies.com.
