By Traditional. By Han-Ki Kim. Arranged by Han-Ki Kim. This edition: pdf. Chamber, Classical, Instructional, Standards, Traditional. 31 pages. Han-Ki Kim #1431016. Published by Han-Ki Kim (A0.1871695).
This piece was composed at the commission of the Yeosu International Music Festival (Artistic Director Kim Min-ji), held in June 2026, and follows an overall rondo form of A-B-A-C-A′. The A theme, repeated three times, expresses "vibrant Yeosu" and heightens excitement by incorporating the traditional Korean rhythm of "Jajinmori." The B and C themes depict the "dawning sea," the "brilliantly shining sea of Yeosu," and "surging waves and fish" through various musical motifs. In particular, the melody of the "Geomundo Boat Song," which occupies a significant musical weight of the piece, functions as a medium that inspires a spirit of cooperation among Yeosu fishermen in the rough seas and closely connects human affection. This folk song was designated as Jeollanam-do Intangible Cultural Heritage No. 1 in 1972 and is a valuable legacy possessing cultural property value; administratively, "Geomundo" belongs to Samsan-myeon, Yeosu-si. In other words, this work can be considered an example of artistically embodying Yeosu's natural scenery and communal spirit by musically reproducing regional identity and cultural heritage.
