Superb Accompaniment in a Big Band Setting
Mark Taylor's arrangement of 'Señor Blues' offers excellent support for a lead soloist within the big band context. The piano part, while integral to the rhythm section, provides a solid harmonic foundation and rhythmic drive, perfectly complementing the distinctive melodic line. It’s a versatile chart that would inspire any instrumentalist or even a vocalist adapting the melody. A true jazz standard reimagined effectively.

Excellent Big Band Chart for Developing Ensembles
This Grade 4 arrangement of Horace Silver's 'Señor Blues' by Mark Taylor is fantastic for high school or collegiate jazz ensembles. The Latin jazz groove provides excellent rhythmic challenges, and the clear engraving ensures students can focus on interpretation. Fun and Rewarding Latin Jazz Standard
I absolutely love playing this arrangement of Horace Silver's 'Señor Blues'! The Latin jazz groove is so captivating and it really makes you feel like you're playing the real deal. As an adult learner, the Grade 4 difficulty is challenging but totally achievable with practice, making for a very rewarding experience. It's just a fantastic piece to unwind with and enjoy some classic jazz.
