Die Gattungen Fantasie und Trio waren in dieser Zeit womöglich noch beliebter als im Barock. Während Rudnicks Orgelsonaten oft allzu vordergründig-effektvolle Partien enthalten, zeichnen sich Stücke wie die "Concertfantasie" g-moll op. 56 und die "Acht Orgeltrios" op. 23 durch kompositionstechnische Gediegenheit und nicht alltägliche Einfälle aus.
