Well-Researched
This book provides much-needed insight into the evolutionary path of second line drumming. The examples are transcribed from original recordings & played by the author on the accompanying CD for clarity. This book helped me to understand the underlying musical foundation of modern NOLA funk drumming. It includes an index, end notes, & a discography, all of which increase the value of this book as a scholarly resource.

A virtual history book on Second Line Drumming.
I've only had the book & CD for 2 days. However I can tell you that it looks very thorough, A virtual history book on Second Line Drumming. The recordings are top quality & there is plenty of extra references in the book if a person wishes to delve deeper & research further into Second Line Drumming.I highly recommend it.

Everything you always wanted to know....
This is the ultimate book on NO-drumming. I'm not a drummer, I'm a guitarist (and rhythm-section man) and this book has given me insight in the rhythmic connections between NO-jazz, rhythm & blues, funk, the whole caboodle: it's all there. This book is bound (and deserves) to be/become a classic.
