This piece was composed in the summer of 2000, on commission of the Whightull Wind Ensemble. Seaside Road is a march in two-four time. The work begins with a tempestuous sound, followed by a light passage. Featuring, amongst others, your Bass Clarinet and Euphonium soloists in the trio section, the work builds towards an agile tutti before concluding with a powerful closing section. A must for all your summer season concerts. Seaside Road, ein Marsch im Zweivierteltakt, setzt mit einem stürmischen Klang ein, der an ein Gewitter erinnert. Im nächsten Moment verwandelt sich die Melodie jedoch in einen leichten Marsch. Bezaubernde Ensemblestellen in den Holzbläsern, ein Kuckucksruf-Solo, ein Solo für Bassklarinette im Trio, das von einem langen Euphonium-Solo eingeleitet wird, sowie Soli für Celesta (wahlweise Vibraphon oder Klavier) und Piccolo beschreiben sehr ausdruckvoll die Seaside Road - die Küstenstraße.Cette marche du jeune compositeur japonais Itaru Sakai débute avec fougue. La musique s’apaise et le ton devient plus léger. Le solo de clarinette basse la fin du trio reprend le matériel thématique exposé précédemment par les euphoniums. Après ce passage fluide et calme, la mélodie se développe et s’intensifie pour aboutir un vif tutti, qui trouve son aboutissement dans un court solo de piccolo menant un finale majestueux. Questa marcia del giovane compositore giapponese Itaru Sakai inizia con foga. La musica si placa e il tono diventa più leggero. L’assolo di clarinetto basso alla fine del trio riprende il materiale tematico esposto precedentemente dagli eufoni. Dopo questo passaggio fluido e calmo, la melodia si sviluppa e si intensifica per arrivare ad un vivace tutti, trovando la sua conclusione in un breve assolo dell’ottavino che conduce ad un finale maestoso.
