Borne of a growing sense of unease in 2019 about the direction of travel in the world, the dark and disturbing nature of this piece is I hope more catharsis than valediction. Framed by six orchestral 'screams', a set of variations explores other emotional regions including sadness, resignation, mischief, stillness, hope and light. The climax, though also a scream is however one of more defiance than frustration.
If all that doesn't sound too gloomy, string orchestras of mixed capabilities might find this an enjoyable challenge! Parts can be made available separately on this site.
