Scootin' by John Lewis Oboe - Sheet Music

By John Lewis

This John Lewis arrangement was written for Charlie Parker in 1950. The arrangement was never recorded, and from the look of the original parts, it was never played. This arrangement is unlike the commercial-sounding arrangements in the Bird with Strings book. Lewis was breaking ground with this arrangement and the style is very much in a Tristano vein. We have included a midi sound sample of the arrangement (without the alto, piano, and drums). This will give you an idea of the arrangement.
