I composed this song in 1999 when the School of Chinese Medicine had not yet been formally established, and I originally wrote the piece for the Chinese Medicine Students’ Society. With a cohort of only about sixty students, however, the anthem received little attention. Despite the hundreds of graduates who have since emerged from the programme, the song remains known to only a few.
Now, twenty-six years have passed in the blink of an eye. As the first Chinese Medicine hospital in Hong Kong prepares to open at the end of 2025, I have reworked the composition, transforming it from a simple electone arrangement into a score for brass ensemble. I have also refined certain melodic lines and revised the lyrics, allowing the piece to evolve into a true anthem for the School.
