Oldie but still goodie
This book turns 100 years old in 2012. The a reason it's been around so long is because it presents material in a logical, easy to absorb format. That being said, the book could use a few revisions in its language. Some words, while innocent in 2012 are emotionally charged these days Fag used to be slang for cigarette and pussy was a standard way to refer to a cat. Inner city children have much different associations for these words.

School for the Pianoforte Vol. I (Presser)
One of the finest method series ever produced. This 3-volume series is well worth your money. Basic classical training helps the serious student become accustomed to traditional hand positions and movement on the keyboard. Whenever something new is introduced, it reverts to playing in octaves to help the student coordinate their fingers and hands.Guaranteed you will not be sorry with this method series.
