Motetus II ist - wie Motetus I (SKR 20028) - ein raumlich konzipiertes Stuck fur zwei Chorgruppen. Im Gegensatz zum hymnischen Motetus I ist Motetus II jedoch ein Klagegesang, in den das De profundis clamavi in mehreren Sprachen (so zumal im hebraischen Urtext), Hilferufe wie Herr erbarme dich!, ebenfalls in mehreren 'heiligen' Sprachen (so als Kyrie eleison), erzahlende Passagen aus dem Buch Hiob, aber auch ganz alltagliche Schreie und - archaisch wie modern - Verwunschungen, sogar Fluche eingebaut sind. Komponiert ist in Motetus II nicht so sehr ein einheitlicher, durchziehender Verlauf, als vielmehr eine Reihe prozessualer Ansatze, was einem De profundis angemessen sein mag: Rufe aus der Tiefe kommen kaum in einem Strom, sondern als immer neue Versuche.
