Theodor W. Stepanows (1866-1914) pädagogisches Erbe und insbesondere seine hier vorliegenden Tonleitern, Akkorde und Arpeggien beeinflussten die russische Aufführungspraxis bis weit in die Ära der Sowjetunion hinein. Auch in Deutschland wurde dieses Werk bis zum 2. Weltkrieg in großer Stückzahl verkauft. In den 1960er Jahren wurde die Ausgabe auf Wunsch der Wiener Musikakademie und renommierter Flötisten neu aufgelegt. Die Tonleitern sind in leichter Anordnung für den Anfänger zusammengestellt und sind somit für den Unterricht auch heute wie damals bestens geeignet. Eine zeitlose Übung für angehende Flötisten!
