The piece is famous for its stately, solemn character and has become widely recognized, especially after being prominently featured in Stanley Kubrick’s film “Barry Lyndon”
The work is particularly noted for its emotional depth and is often associated with a sense of solemnity or mourning. Its later orchestrations and uses in film and TV have only increased its popularity.
