Sanctus for High Voice Solo, SATB, and Organ by Charles Francois Gounod 4-Part - Digital Sheet Music

By Charles Francois Gounod
Choral Choir, Choral (SATB Chorus) - Level 3 - Digital Download

SKU: A0.1598446

Composed by Charles Francois Gounod. Arranged by A. Douglas Biggs. This edition: pdf, streaming. Classical, Religious, Sacred, Traditional. 16 pages. Adrian D Biggs #1169216. Published by Adrian D Biggs (A0.1598446).

This new arrangement of the Sanctus from Charles Gounod's La Messe solennelle en l'honneur de Sainte Cecile was a commission by the St. Agnes Catholic Church Traditional Choir of Louisville, Kentucky, Geoffrey Vickery, Music Director.

An attractive and emotional accompaniment based on the original Gounod supports and enhances the vocals. The chorus has been re-voiced to eliminate divisi passages, reducing the number of singers necessary. The solo part has been extended, joining with the melody for the final "Sanctus" and adding a brief cadenza-like final phrase to the chorus' “Hosanna in excelsis.”

Sanctus may be performed by either Tenor or Soprano Solo with SATB and Organ (TS1001), SATB and Piano (TS1001A), or SATB, 2 Trumpets, String Quartet, and Organ (TS1001B). Sanctus is of moderate difficulty, performable by church or community choir, and suitable for concert or church service.
