The title is Latin for "The Saviour is born." It was adopted centuries later by the Lutherans who named the song "Christ the Lord to Us is Born." The author is unknown. A modulation to a new key occurs towards the end of section B with the aid of a French augmented sixth chord. A descant by yours truly is then added at section C. This piece is fitting for Christmas season and shouldn't be rushed.
