Salut d'amour by Edward Elgar Concert Band - Digital Sheet Music

By Edward Elgar

Salut d'amour, Op. 12 was originally written for violin and piano. Elgar finished the piece in July 1888 and called it "Liebesgruss", as his girlfriend Caroline Alice Roberts spoke fluently German, and he gave her Salut d'Amour as engagement present. The orchestral version premiered on 11 November 1889 at Crystal Palace in London. The arrangement is kept in the original key of the orchestral version. It was commissioned and first time performed by Mozarteum Wind Philharmonic Salzburg conducted by Hansjoerg Angerer at their "Three Kings' Concert" on 6 January 2015 in the "Grosses Festspielhaus" (Large Festival Hall) in Salzburg, Austria. The solo part was performed by Austrian violin virtuoso Benjamin Schmid.
