Sagitta Piano Method - Digital Sheet Music

Sagitta, the Arrow was catalogued by Ptolemy in the second century. There are several myths associated with this arrow. One is the tale of Prometheus, who created people out of clay and gave them fire. This angered Zeus, who chained Prometheus to a rock on Mount Kazbegi in the Caucasus. Daily an eagle feasted on his liver, which regrew each night. Heracles (Hercules) killed the eagle, freeing Prometheus from this torture. The composer Alexander Scriabin created a synthetic scale later known as the Prometheus scale and its related chord, also called the Mystic Chord, which feature in this short piece for the third smallest constellation in the night sky. Players love this Intermediate Piano Solo commenting, “Tasty chords” and “Very interesting and unexpected harmonies”. From “88 Constellations” a collection by Heather Cattanach featuring one piece of piano music for each of the 88 constellations (to match the number of keys on a standard piano). Performance Time 1 minute. 2 pages. (General Instructional, Modern, 20th Century, Repertoire, Recital)
