"Runaway" was a #1 hit song by Del Shannon from 1961 that also topped the charts in ten different countries. The song introduced an eclectic new sound by using an electronic keyboard called a Musitron (which was actually an early Synthesizer). A year later, Lawrence Welk and his orchestra released an instrumental version - which also was a huge success. Over the years, other singers to release covers were Elvis Pressly, Bonnie Raitt and Donny Osmond. This String Trio arrangement opens with the cello on the melody line of the introduction, before it is ceded to the 1st Violin.
