Als Auftragswerk für die Domsingknaben am Würzburger Dom entstand 2007 Rolf Rudins Chorkomposition Ruhm und Preis für gemischten Chor a cappella. Komponiert worden ist das fünfstimmige Werk (SSATB) als Coda zum gleichnamigen Prozessionshymnus am Palmsonntag, der im Gotteslob GL 798ö (Anhang Bistum Mainz) steht. Das stimmungsvolle, rund 3-minütige Werk in deutscher Sprache bildet somit den krönenden und feierlichen Abschluss des vorangestellten einstimmigen Hymnus aus dem 9. Jahrhundert. Aber auch als eigenständige Komposition für den festlichen kirchenmusikalischen Rahmen ist dieser Lobpreis Gottes des preisgekrönten Tondichters bestens geeignet.
