This famous Rondeau was originally written as part of Mouret's first Suite of Symphonies. Relatively unknown for over 200 years, it rose to popularity in 1971 when it was used as the theme for the PBS series Masterpiece Theatre. It is a popular selection at weddings, and remains Mouret's most famous work. This is a great piece to teach shifting to the first violins, as well as accidentals in the middle section.
