The main theme from the animated film "How to Train Your Dragon" is a great new addition to the brass band repertoire. Opening with a little flourish on soprano cornet, the piece allows all sections to shine as the music protrays Berk from the air as Hiccup and Toothless take their first flight together.Back row and middle of the band will all need a light tongue for their semiquavers which should be double-tongued if possible. The theme (main theme of the film) should never be obscured as it weaves through the band. Even the basses get a few phrases of it.This will be a very useful addition to summer concerts as it will appeal to younger people - especially those eagerly awaiting the next installment which is already out in cinemas.
