Rockin’ Rondo is a solid, energetic Sonata Rondo in a Classical form (ABACABA with Coda) that’s great for an Advanced Intermediate Concert Band to play for Concert or Contest. It has enough challenge to keep it interesting and lots of changes to give it wide appeal. Here are some of its features:
* Dynamic changes, some sudden which add punch, some subtle that add mood.
* Layers of texture like trombones banging out a staccato bass line or the clarinets imitating violin pizzicato.
* Vastly different A, B, and C sections. (With built-in transition help for the conductor)
* Variety of presentations of the A section each time.
* Elegant inter-play among instruments as they present each section.
* A couple of time signature changes near the end for appeal.
* An undetectable false cadence at the end. (In concert Eb but ends on a Bb chord.)
