This is a saxophone quintet arrangement (soprano, 2 altos, tenor, and baritone) of an iconic 12-bar blues, rock-and -roll song from 1954. It hit #1 on both the US and UK charts and is ranked at #159 on Rolling Stone magazine's 500 Greatest Songs of All Time. The lead melody is passed around the various instruments, and the 1st alto has a written out solo on the original guitar riff of 12 bars. The original song in A major has been transposed in this arrangement to Ab major. Audiences who grew up in the 1950s early rock and roll era may appreciate this arrangement. Viewers of the TV sitcom "Happy Days" and movies such as "American Grafitti" may resonate with this nostalgic throwback to early sock hop days. This is an intermediate to advanced level arrangement.
