The arrangement is intended to sound similar to the original version, but the piano is the anchor of the arrangement rather than guitar. The rhythm section is flexible and can be as small as piano, bass and drums, but includes simple guitar, ukulele, and percussion parts to accommodate larger ensembles and fill out the arrangement.
The vocal parts generally mimic the recording, but could be pared down to a high voice and a low voice, or expanded to cover all written harmonies with sections distributed as solos, if desired.
The piece is in 6/8 with a single 3/8 bar that can give an emerging ensemble a little challenge to work through. Note: if you work with young people or otherwise sensitive groups, the lyrics do contain the phrase “I miss your face like hell…”
