This piece is an expression of the human longing for redemption, healing from brokenness, and life after death. The opening portrays a slow awakening as a person comes to life, gradually opening their eyes. Yet, there are feelings of longing for a future not yet fulfilled, depicted in minor and half-diminished chords. The harmonies and rhythms have dual inspiration from Celtic and East Asian music, reflecting my background as a harpist and traveler. The verse from the Book of John (John 11:25) answers the ultimate question for humankind -- that eternal life is given through Jesus Christ, and because He lives, we too can live with hope for a future resurrection of our earthly bodies, transformed into bodies of glory. The writing of this piece flowed from my own faith in Christ Who gives me hope. This piece was selected for the 2023 AHS Young Composer's Project and was premiered at the 2023 AHS Summer Institute at Colburn Music School, Los Angeles, California.
