The show is filmed at the Weald and Downland Living Museum in Sussex, with the Court Barn as its principal setting, though some repairs are carried out in the Victorian smithy and nearby wagon shed. Composer Ian Livingstone writes for television, films and video games; he jointly won an Ivor Novello Award in 2011 for a video game score for Napoleon: Total War and his soaring theme for 'The Repair Shop' has been arranged for concert band with an extended percussion opening, suggesting a busy workshop, with instruments distributed around the band; a piano part is included to keep the authentic feel of the original.
