Rejoice (score & parts) Percussion Ensemble - Sheet Music

Rejoice is a fast, energetic composition based on the old Methodist Hymn, Rejoice the Lord Is King. In the first section, the melody is supported by rhythmic sequences and development, which gives way to a fugal section. The fugue builds to a climax as it approaches the third and final section, a traditional treatment of the hymn. In this final section, some of the fugal ideas and rhythmic sequences from the previous sections are intertwined with a restatement of the melody. Audiences will love this piece because they will recognize the melody and yet appreciate this new and exciting treatment.Rejoice is a fun and exciting work that was commissioned by my dear friend Dr. David Kirby, who passed away in the summer of 2012.
