"Fragment Rag" is an original piano solo that takes its inspiration from a rare fragment of a piece that was discovered and attributed to Scott Joplin. The Joplin snippet (which is hilited in light red) forms the foundation of the first half of Fragment Rag. The second half is fully original by Scott Powell, and is crafted in a style similar to early 20th century rags.
A couple of minor changes were made in the original fragment by Joplin, including the separating of the right hand into two parts in one staff where it seemed appropriate to do so.
