Composed by Marianna Martines. Edited by 2002. CD. Furore Verlag #FUE 7012. Published by Furore Verlag (FV.FUE-7012).
ISBN SAL 7012.
This Quarta Messa is a composition from the period of Viennese Classicism which has fortunately been rediscovered. Although written in 1765, it did not appear in print until 1993 when it was per-formed again in Frankfurt am Main. This mass, worship in concert form, which is intended for performance on feast days, is an original and moving musical setting for the familiar words of the mass. The lightness and grace with which she develops her musical themes delight the listener. Marianna Martines was born in Vienna in 1744 and Joseph Haydn instructed the 9-year-old Marianna in piano and musical theory. She also played piano duets with Mozart. Marianna Martines achieved wide recognition as a singer and pianist, as head of her own singing school for women and as a com-poser of a large body of secular and religious vocal and instrumental works. Her works present us with the 18th century from its gallant, classical side, influenced by the Italian melodic style, yet they are rich in personal feeling within the stylistic language of the times.
CONTENT Katharina Spielmann - Sopran, Nina Amon - Mezzosopran, Felix Rienth - Tenor, Michael Kreis - Bassbariton, Chorgemeinschaft Kirchdorf, Leitung: Peter Loosli.
