Moessorgski schreef 'Schilderijen van een Tentoonstelling' naar aanleiding van een bezoek aan een tentoonstelling van het werk van zijn overleden vriend Viktor Hartmann in 1874. Deze 16 delige suite is zeer interessant om te spelen met een symfonisch blaasorkest; na mooie solistische delen mondt dit prachtige werk uit in een fantastische apotheose: 'De grote poort van Kiev'.

Mussorgsky wrote 'Pictures at an Exhibition' after visiting an exhibition of paintings by his late friend Viktor Hartmann in 1874. This sixteen part suite is extremely well suited to be performed by a symphonic band: after a series of nice solo passages the work ends with a fantastic apotheosis 'The Great Gate of Kiev'.

C’est suite à une visite d’une exposition de tableaux de son ami Viktor Hartmann que Modeste Moussorgski a écrit 'Tableaux d’une Exposition' en 1874. Les 16 parties sont très indiquées pour être interprétées par un grand orchestre d’harmonie. Il y a de très beaux passages pour solistes d’une part et l’imposante apothéose orchestrale 'La Grande Porte de Kiev' d’autre part.

Mussorgski komponierte die 'Bilder einer Ausstellung' nachdem er 1874 eine Ausstellung von Malereien seines verstorbenen Freundes Viktor Hartmanns besucht hatte. Diese Suite in sechzehn Teilen eignet sich hervorragend für Sinfonisches Blasorchester. Nach verschiedenen schönen solistischen Teilen gibt es zum Schluss die bekannte fantastische Apotheose „Das große Tor von Kiew'.
