Composed by Bertolt Brecht, Kurt Weill, and Marc Blitzstein. Arranged by Stephen W. Burch (ASCAP). This edition: pdf, streaming. 20th Century, Broadway, Musical/Show, Standards, Swing. 16 pages. BurchMusic #1332357. Published by BurchMusic (A0.1771864).Mack the Knife, the famous opening song from the Threepenny Opera (1928 by Kurt Weill and Bertold Brecht), introduces a very bad character, based on the historical notorious 18th century London thief, Jack Sheppard. The recoding by Bobby Darin in 1959 becamse a number one hit in the USA and the UK. This arrangement doesn’t follow the half-step modulation after each verse, but rather modulates a whole step with every other verse. The repeats can be omitted to make the song shorter. This arrangement is relatively easy and fun to play.
