Prelude on "Panis Angelicus" for organ is based on a beloved hymn by Fr. Louis Lambilotte (1796-1855)), who also wrote "Come Holy Ghost" and "On This Day, O Beautiful Mother". Panis Angelicus (Bread of Angels) appears in many Catholic hymnbooks, and has been a favorite for many years. This work is a musical meditation on the profound mystery of the Blessed Sacrament which is reflected in this hymn. It is especially suitable for Corpus Christi, but would be also appreciated for special occasions, such as weddings, solemnities and feast days, or on any Sunday throughout the Church year, especially where the Scripture Readings focus on the Holy Eucharist.
Organists will find this piece to be a valuable addition to their repertoire.
